lundbeckfonden Science teaching and communication

Lundbeckfonden wishes to maintain and stimulate interest in natural sciences, both in primary and secondary education and in the general public.  We have two initiatives to fulfil this aim: ‘Teaching’ and ‘Communication’.

Teaching

Lundbeckfonden wishes to help stimulate science teaching in primary and secondary schools through school and educational projects. We accept applications for two project types: ‘pilot projects’ up to DKK 500,000 and ‘major teaching projects’ up to DKK 5 million.

  • Pilot projects test new ideas or implement a small-scale project. You can apply for funding twice a year through the Foundation’s application system. See the deadlines here.
  • There is no application deadline for major teaching projects. If you wish to apply for funding for a major teaching project (> DKK 500,000), you must send an email to application@lundbeckfonden.com describing your idea and including an estimated budget (in total no more than three pages in length). Based on this, the Foundation will decide whether it is appropriate for you to submit an actual application. You can expect a response within a month.

Your proposal must reflect your knowledge of, and relevant collaboration with, users of the project and relevant educational institutions, municipalities, school principals and teachers. Consequently, it is important to include statements of commitment and support from all involved. You must also clearly state how you plan to anchor/embed and evaluate the project and how knowledge and experience gained from the project will be shared with others.

Both types of project will be processed by Lundbeckfonden with the help of external experts and will be assessed based on academic significance and innovative contribution to learning and teaching in primary and secondary education.

Communication

Lundbeckfonden wishes to help make research-based knowledge and new research results widely available through engaging and inclusive communication activities.

There is no application deadline for communication projects. If you wish to apply for funding for a communication project, you must send an email to application@lundbeckfonden.com describing your idea and including an estimated budget (in total no more than three pages in length). If appropriate, you may attach a brief video pitch (no longer than one minute in duration) describing your idea. Based on this, the Foundation will decide whether it is appropriate for you to submit an actual application. You can expect a response within a month.

In the event of funding for a communication project with commercial potential, such as a film, Lundbeckfonden reserves the right to add a non-profit clause to the notice of funding. This means that if a project generates a financial profit, the Foundation’s funding may be offset against the profit.
